NEW YORK — A firefighter injured in a Bronx house fire was discharged from Jacobi Medical Center on May 19.

FDNY EMS personnel saved Firefighter Kevin Paulicelli’s life with CPR and the administration of hydroxocobalamin, NBC New York reported.

The 38-year-old father of two, assigned to Engine Company 90, collapsed while battling the two-alarm fire. A mayday was issued, and firefighters dragged him out. He was unconscious by the time they reached the sidewalk, CBS New York reported.

“Everyone worked together, really did their job,” Paulicelli said. “I’m here now because of all of them.”

“It was scary but I’m very relieved at how everything turned out,” Engine 90 Captain Richard Cudde said. “He has got a little ways to go, but with the support of this great department we’re gonna get there.”

“For us, we save lives every day and our members are so special for doing that,” FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. “But to have saved the life of one of our own is particularly special between the firefighters, the EMTs, and the medics. It feels good.”
