HOUSTON — A Houston firefighter was rescued by fellow firefighters after a roof collapsed during a house fire, briefly trapping the firefighter in a room.
Firefighters responded to a two-story home fire on Tuesday, KHOU 11 reports. No one was home at the time, and firefighters entered the structure to battle the flames. Once inside, the roof collapsed, separating the firefighters inside and prompting one firefighter to call mayday. The firefighter was rescued after a few minutes and determined to be unhurt.
Another Houston firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering a back injury during this call.
Officials do not know the cause of the fire.
