Fire trucks given tickets outside Pittsburgh city hall

City fire crews parked outside city hall on Tuesday to get flu shots; firefighters don’t own trucks, so tickets were written to city

PITTSBURGH — A few Pittsburgh city fire crews parked outside city hall on Tuesday to get flu shots, but they left the building to find parking tickets on their fire trucks.

Local officials, including the mayor and members of City Council, usually park in those spots because they pay for them, according to KDKA, but they were out to lunch when the firefighters rolled up.

Pittsburgh police say the officer who gave the tickets was just doing her job and that she’s even put tickets on marked police cars before.

But because the firefighters don’t own the trucks, the tickets were written to the city.

“I suppose the city will have to go to court against itself,” said Josh Bloom, the firefighters’ attorney.
