NEW YORK — FDNY firefighters took down a man who punched a 60-year-old woman outside their fire station, video shows.

The surveillance video obtained by CBS New York shows four firefighters chasing the man and taking him to the ground while other firefighters check on the woman.

The incident occurred on Aug. 26 in front of the FDNY Engine 214 Ladder 111 firehouse in Brooklyn. The video was captured by a surveillance camera at a nearby deli.

Firefighters kept the man at the scene until police arrived. Daniel Biggs, 53, was arrested in the case, according to the NYPD. Police said one firefighter was punched in the eye during the struggle.

The woman suffered a cut to her mouth but refused medical attention at the scene, officials said. Police added that the suspect and the victim appear to be strangers and that Biggs has 18 previous arrests, including arrests for assault and robbery.
