NEW YORK — A raging fire tore through a Jamaica, Queens, building, injuring five firefighters. The blaze was reported at about 6:15 a.m. in a building on Sutphin Boulevard between 114th Road and 115th Avenue.
The FDNY said roughly 170 firefighters and EMS personnel rushed to the scene on Aug. 10, attacking a first-floor blaze that quickly intensified, according to WABC.
Three firefighters were seriously injured, though their wounds are not life-threatening, and two others sustained minor injuries. All were taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment.
