Mich. man arrested for swinging swords at firefighters

Police said the armed man was upset because he felt firefighters weren’t helping his friend quickly enough

LANSING, Mich. — A 31-year-old man may face felony charges for swinging swords at firefighters Monday morning.

Detroit Free Press reported that the man came out swinging with swords in both hands when firefighters responded to a home to help the man’s friend, who was having a seizure. Police said the armed man was upset because he felt firefighters weren’t helping his friend quickly enough.

No one was injured in the incident, but police may seek felony assault charges against the armed man. A brother of the armed man tried to obstruct police as they arrested him. He could also face charges for obstructing police. Both men are being held in the city jail.

Firefighters took the man having a seizure to a hospital while police arrested his two friends. The man having a seizure had non-life-threatening injuries.
