RENDON, Texas — Firefighters ran out of water while battling a blaze at a home that was struck by lightning.
CBS News reported that flames engulfed the attic after lightning struck the peak of the two-story house.
The 3,000 gallons of water that firefighters brought wasn’t enough to put out the flames. They tried to access more from a nearby fire hydrant, but the water pressure wasn’t strong enough.
“With all these hose, we actually, what we tried to do was set up a fire truck there and boost the pressure,” Rendon Fire Department Captain Steve Gutierrez said. “But there wasn’t even enough water. We would have actually pulled the hydrant out of the ground.”
A tanker had to shuttle water from another hydrant back to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
