NEW HOLLAND BOROUGH, Pa. — Six people were displaced and three people were injured Saturday night after a house along Main Street in New Holland Borough caught fire.

Firefighters converged on a duplex at 443 W. Main St., across the street from New Holland Ford, just after 6:30 p.m. and found flames extending from the front porch up the east side of the building, according to Garden Spot Fire Rescue, which was at the scene.

Two firefighters were burned while trying to extinguish the blaze, one through the front door and another through a window, according to the fire company. Both were transported to a hospital, where they were treated and released Sunday.

Garden Spot Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Stefan Kuenzli said Monday afternoon that six people were displaced, four adults and two children. A bystander was also injured when they broke a window to see if anyone was inside prior to firefighters arriving. The bystander was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kuenzli said there isn’t an estimate on damages yet. A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
