ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two St. Louis County police officers dove into cold pond water Monday afternoon after they saw a firefighter and the truck driver he was trying to rescue disappear underwater.
A truck went into the pond in north St. Louis, and a firefighter with the Black Jack Fire Protection District got into the water to rescue the driver from the truck, KMOV 4 reported.
St. Louis County police officers Don Shultz and Victoria Sarver also responded to the incident. When they saw the driver and the firefighter go under the water, they immediately dove in to help. Sarver said she saw the truck go completely underwater, too.

“It’s my instinct when someone is yelling for help to go help,” Sarver said. “That’s my job and I do it every day.”
While Sarver and Shultz were swimming over, the firefighter came up with the driver in his arms.
The firefighters and officers on scene worked together to get the driver out of the water.
The driver had a minor injury.
