PIEDMONT, S.C. — Firefighters rescued a man at least 20 feet off the ground after he got stuck in a tree Friday night.
The Associated Press reported that the man was using special devices on his feet to climb the pine tree when one of his shoes fell off.
A friend of the man called 911 and firefighters used a ladder to bring climbing equipment back to him, according to the report. The man was then able to get down the tree on his own.
Fire officials were unsure why the man was climbing the tree.
