BOSTON —The Boston City Council met on Monday and discussed firefighter safety in the city and what can be done to improve it.
“People are blissfully unaware that a fire hose is not fireproof. I didn’t know that, and I’m the mother of a firefighter,” Kathleen Crosby-Bell said.
On Monday morning, Crosby-Bell, the mother of fallen firefighter Michael Kennedy, sounded the alarm to Boston City Council and called for better protective equipment. “We turn on our televisions now, we see a man in race car with a suit on, on fire, and he’s not burned. OK, why can’t we have fireproof fire hose?” Crosby-Bell said.
