Over 20 rescued at Mo. apartment fire

16 adults and seven children were displaced by the Kansas City apartment fire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City firefighters rescued over 20 people and several pets from a fire Sunday morning.

First responders arrived at 16300 E. 48th Terrace around 8 a.m. and found smoke and flames showing from a three-story apartment, according to a release from the fire department.

The department said the fire was a first-alarm blaze, and that six additional ambulances were called to be used as warming shelters. Red Cross was notified for the 16 adults and seven children, the department said in its release.

No injuries were reported. The fire was under control by 8:25 a.m.

The building was labeled as dangerous, and the Fire Department is investigating the blaze.
